Fall Fashion Trends 2011 | It’s All About Color!
Fall Fashion Trends
Living in Southern California can sometimes keep you in a bubble of warm sunny days and if it wasn’t for the women stepping out in their tights and sweaters, you would suddenly find yourself immersed by winter winds and wondering how you missed the changing season of Autumn leaves. Lets just say it isn’t the falling leaves that triggers season change in Los Angeles , rather its the fashion that hits the streets.
Here are some trends for this Fall that I found fun, unique and wearable. Lord knows not all that hits the runways hits the jackpot if we stroll out in it on the street. As with all other trends, make sure it suits you before heading out the door, the trend is supposed to make sense not a mess.
Chunky Sweaters
What better trend to try on then a cozy one! Chunky sweaters are warming up the scene with it’s comfy, casual yet sexy appeal. Pair one with tights, jeans, or for a more fashionable look, with a long maxi skirt.
Mustard and Rust Hues
Color this season is getting a lot of love. I find that mustard and rust hues are flattering for most women that I work with.If you’re having trouble putting your dark, slimming shades to rest, try adding a touch like a mustard scarf to your look, tights, or a rust jacket or blazer.
If you’re daring enough to step it up a notch try pairing a mustard dress with teal tights and some heels for a head turner look.
Polka Dots
Polka dots have always held my interest. It reminds me of youthful freedom and innocence. I’ve got a few polka dot dresses hanging in my closet that I’ve been wearing for quite some time. This season I especially love the sheer, loose and lights fabrics a with polka dots running loose. Some of these styles are ditching the “girl next door” vibe and taking on a sexier role of womanhood.

Go for big polka dots and less traditional colors to explore this trend a little further.
If you you heavier on your bottom half, I would suggest keeping your bottoms dark, whether it be a skirt or jeans, and pair them with a polka dot blouse.
Color Blocking
It was hot in spring and it’s still hot through fall and winter. Dare to pair : browns and pinks, greens and blues, pinks and oranges, mustards and blues, turquoise and fuchsias. If you’re large, try layering and sheer fabrics. Go for Vertical lines not horizontal. Stay away form pairing too many shades, Ii would suggest sticking with only two to three colors.
If you’re a beginner at this trendy mismatching game, stick to using two colors only. Go for a bright green dress and let your shoes be the other bright color, such as blue. If you’re pairing a bright top and bottom, stick to basic black shoes and purse. Otherwise you could end up competing with a crayon box for it’s color variety.
